The name Sertão is not by mere chance. The word derives from the Latin sertanus, meaning a deserted or uninhabited area, which in Brazil is often plagued by drought and arid land. From the land also comes mycelium, the vegetative part of fungi composed of a network of fine fibers, similar to roots, that grow underground. With technology developed by Mush, mycelium is cultivated in a lab using agricultural industry waste. This innovative material, considered the raw material of the future (even though it is already so present), showcases nature’s power of connections and life sprouting from the soil.

Together, the aridity of the Sertão, expressed in the cracked earth pattern and color, and the soft touch of mycelium form the tabletop, redefining scarcity and drought with the abundance of proliferation and maintenance of life characteristic of this biomaterial.

The Sertão side table set presents a new format for the already well-known coffee table. It offers a fresh interpretation of a striking and sustainable design.
