Saudade Armchair

Regular price €1.200,00 EUR

The Saudade Project emerges from memory and gesture. It revisits manual practices deeply rooted in Brazilian domestic culture — crochet, knitting, macramé, and arraiolo
— techniques passed down through generations, often overlooked yet profoundly meaningful.
These are objects shaped in slow time, made by the hands of mothers, grandmothers, and aunts. A blanket woven from leftover yarns, crochet doilies decorating tables, tapestries that remain for years — all expressions of ancestral knowledge, affection, and identity. Beyond aesthetics, these practices are also acts of care — forms of art therapy that connect body, mind, and memory.
The project proposes integrating this artisanal intelligence into contemporary design, bringing craftsmanship into dialogue with industry. This intention materializes in the Saudade Armchair, developed in partnership with Belmetais, and in the lighting pieces, which reinterpret traditional crochet doilies as warm, atmospheric light objects.
Before reaching Milan, the project was born within elderly care homes, through moments of listening, exchange, and art workshops. These encounters form the emotional foundation of the work, supported by FMIC – Cultural Incentive Fund of Campo Grande (MS, Brazil).
