Amid Earth and Sky, the voices of brazilian design at Milano Design Week 2025.
Inspired by the duality between the solidity of the earth and the fluidity of the sky, Tropicalistic and Neia Paz present a theme that explores how the richness of Brazilian biodiversity and the spiritual connection with nature has influenced and still influence design.
This approach highlights the harmonious relationship between the material and the ethereal, between the strength of natural elements and the lightness of creative interpretations, translating Brazil’s vibrant nature into unique pieces.
Brazilian design connects opposing yet complementary elements, earth and sky, celebrating the country’s dynamic and living essence. This duality reflects Brazil’s ability to transform its natural wealth into pieces that engage the senses.
Earth, the foundation
- Natural materials such as wood, ceramics, and stones, or other elements crafted into robust forms and textures that evoke Brazil’s landscapes.
- Earthy colors and neutral tones reminiscent of the soil, forests, and mountains of Brazil.
Sky, the creative light
- Translucent elements, fluid fabrics, and airy shapes that evoke the movement of the wind, clouds, and tropical skies.
- Light and soft colors, such as shades of blue, white, and pastels, suggesting serenity and elevation.
Spiritual connection with living Nature:
- Pieces made from various materials that incorporate elements of brazilian biodiversity, such as shapes inspired by leaves, branches, or rivers, creating a bridge between design and the natural essence of Brazil.
- Use of sustainable materials and artisanal techniques that respect the life cycle, promoting a message of biodiversity preservation and sustainability, an approach that is not only aesthetic but also ethically aligned with nature.
- New materials and technique can pay tribute and respect to the living nature.
Narrative of balance and integration
Two interconnected spaces will represent this narrative of balance and integration, inviting visitors to explore the connection between earth and sky through a visual and sensory experience:
Earth Space
- Robust and textured materials evoke the strength and permanence of the Brazilian land.
- Elements such as natural stones, hand-molded ceramics, and crafted wood reference ancestry and durability.
Sky Space
- Lightness takes center stage, with pieces that explore transparency, fluidity, and movement.
- Suspended and illuminated fabrics simulate tropical clouds, while light and shadow play create a contemplative atmosphere.
The Connection
- A fluid axis links the two spaces, symbolizing harmony between opposing forces as suggested by Fuorisalone 2025 theme “Mondi Connessi” (Connected Worlds).
Why Amid Earth and Sky
Amid Earth and Sky is a statement of Brazil’s essence, a country where material and spiritual, industry and artisan, local and universal, can coexist in harmony.
In today’s world, where the balance between progress and sustainability is vital, Brazilian design stands out for its unique approach, merging tradition and innovation, respect for the past, and boldness for the future.
This theme reaffirms Brazil’s role as a global leader in creating pieces that are both functional and deeply emotional.
