Quilombola Sieves
The beautiful weavings of Taboca, used in the traditional sieves of Furnas de Dionísio, n the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, take center stage in the Raiz da Trama Project. This project has revitalized the rare and intricate craft of Taboca weaving, a technique mastered by the ancestors of the quilombola community but nearly forgotten over time.
The Raiz da Trama Project has conducted production workshops within the community, fostering an exchange of knowledge between generations of quilombolas. These workshops have inspired the act of weaving and have brought renewed appreciation to this exquisite artisanal technique. By doing so, the project not only preserves a valuable cultural heritage but also empowers the community, instilling pride and a sense of continuity in their rich traditions.
The Quilombola Sieves, with their intricate Taboca patterns, are more than functional items; they are a testament to the enduring legacy of the quilombola artisans and their remarkable craftsmanship.
